Today is the official launch of financial inclusion, Our Suzy is in London for the launch and will update us fully, some of the points are

secured agreement from the hamper industry to establish an industry-led scheme to ensure that consumers' interests are fully protected through the establishment of secure, ring-fenced accounts

£1 million funding for the Office of Fair Trading to conduct a consumer awareness campaign in the coming months on Christmas saving schemes and mainstream alternatives
This will include the post office Christmas savings scheme for example

The Government has asked the Financial Inclusion Taskforce to monitor developments, and consider what further detailed actions are needed to expand community-based provision of saving.

As you are all aware The Thoresen review and The Pomeroy Review links have been posted on site for anyone who wants to refresh their memories

Glad to see that Farepak is in the news again. I would hate to think that it had been forgotten so soon.

It aint forgotten Sandra dont you worry bout that - none of us will let it be forgotten :)

I have to say I met lovely people today who lost out through Farepak and I have told them to come visit us here so if you do appear guys welcome and introduce yourselves - it was great to meet you all :)

Thanks for posting all the stuff Sharon.

Think it went very well today. Very happy with the campaign the OFT are going ahead with. At the end of the day it will allow consumers to see that they have choices :)
