=D> =D> =D> =D> Abzzeus :D

These people should not put themselves up for office unless they are squeaky clean IMO :D

Any skeletons could make or break a campaign.

The problem is deciding which are fact / fiction :? :? :? :?
The press can't always be trusted   surprising I know  but it is true :D trust me :D

Anyway, back to the original post, if Obama stood here he would win :D :D :D :D

seems like the billion dollar "rescue" deal will go through in some form, am i the only one who is baffled by this one? I've heard bill clinton back john mcain, bush called a communist, hank paulson apparently on his knees begging for the deal to go through, and other strange goings on at the whitehouse. One thing is for sure , that whoever wins the election is going to have an enormous problem in the u.s economy.

Two things

Saturday Night Live (a BIG no sorry a BIG USA comedy program) did a parody of Sarah Palin's interview - except they used Sarah's exact words. Yes, you read that right, her words, the McCain camp are somewhat embarrassed by the spectacle. http://www.americablog.com/2008/09/tina ... palin.html

Part of the 700 Billion answer comes from Sweden - http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/23/busin ... krona.html

" Sweden did not just bail out its financial institutions by having the government take over the bad debts. It extracted pounds of flesh from bank shareholders before writing checks. Banks had to write down losses and issue warrants to the government.

That strategy held banks responsible and turned the government into an owner. When distressed assets were sold, the profits flowed to taxpayers, and the government was able to recoup more money later by selling its shares in the companies as well. "

Also,

As to Brown/Darling's more regulation/laws/bills/paperwork here is my thinking

Regulations are like Speed Cameras, Supervision is like traffic police.

A speed camera sits in a fixed place, detecting one offence.. A regulation defines what one part of a business can/can not do. The problem is that everyone knows where the regulation/camera is, knows how to avoid being caught by it.

Where as, supervision or traffic police, can detect many things, sometimes the "it doesn't look right" a.k.a. copper's nouce, can find things that whilst not being on the surface 100% illegal added together give a less than rosy position.

A.

Is that the sound of the wheels coming off the mcain campaign? That one makes dan quayle look like einstein. Saw a little bit of the debate between mcain and obama, thought mcain was showing his age , obama breezed through.

I had a strange thought for an analogy of the us bailout plan , from the film blazing saddles, when the cowboy takes himself hostage, to get out of a sticky situation.

Then again maybe i just remembered it because it was funny.

Well it looks like its in the bag for Obama (unless something dodgy happens    ) none of the projections on any channel can predict a Mc win, so I reckon I'll go to bed and plan my emigration
