NO we do not choose disability , it chooses us.

I couldnt work because of my disability so i had no choice.

Spin doctors spout

I'm in the same boat - I'm currently covered by insurance and I hope to get back to work.

However, in my present condition, I can't give set hours, I can't work to deadlines, I can't take stress, so who is going to employ me?

Also when 1,000s of skilled staff are being made redundant, where exactly does the minister think these jobs are going to appear from? Mars/Venus/Jupiter???? Certainly not on this planet.

If you want to help people get back to work stop the all or nothing benefits system. earn X get council tac benefit earn X + 1p no benefit of £1K+ per year

The government make me mad, I would never in a million years choose to sit in the house everyday of my life, when I was able to work I did go out to work and I enjoyed every minute of it. Like sue says I would also love to be able to go out for a walk with my partner and the dogs. We dont choose to be ill we just are.
I also dont have the government "paying" me to stay on the sick, as I am fortunate enough to have a private health insurance (at the moment)

That's a question i've been asking for months abzzeus. Where exactly are these jobs supposed to come from, and what employer is going to be content with a worker who can't work day to day, day in day out with all the normal requirements.
Mad! Sandra you and me both mate.

I actually have my first "pathways to work" interview on Friday, although when the phone call came, the interview was sold as a offer of help and support , "to ensure your getting all the help possible". The letter actually says "how we can improve your chances of finding work" Nothing i didn't already know, hubby is taking time off work to take me, luckily he'd already booked the day off for my hospital appointment, apparently from what i've been told, their is a possiblility of another 6 interviews to follow this one and if at anytime i am deemed fit for work by them, i'll be moved from the incapacity benefit numbers to the unemployment numbers, time will tell if this is the case or if they indeed harbour a magic wand in their desk draw to get my condition under control so i could be fit and able to return to my previous life, if this is the case then all credit to them, 8 years down the line and the medical proffession haven't managed but hey I'd bite their hands off if it was possible, like us all i would suspect.
In reality this government mission is going to cause a lot of genuine incapacity benefit claimants some serious mental anguish and stress. Gonna stop now ranting now or i will miss my interview :D :D

Not good but at the end of the day at least they are trying to keep the business going :)

They have said that they do not want to lose the people they have cuz if an order came in they would be up s**t creek.

Better than just shutting the place.

My bruv-in-law is MD at Wardle Storeys and they have been very similar for a long time, relying on customers paying or else they go to the wall :(

There still seems to be some optimism out there, just hope its not un-founded :?

Yep i think it is better to have hours cut than to lose job altogether.

Hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Depends on how long the bleeding tunnel is tho

Sign of the times Tracey, but at least he is still in there with a job so hopefully he is in a good position when things pick up which I am sure they will eventually. Good luck.
